In 2001, after a setup period of 4 months ocean call Inc was formed to deliver offshore telemarketing services from the Caribbean Island of Grenada to both US and UK Blue-chip clients.
ocean call Inc’s data management services were based in the UK and the telemarketing-calling floor accommodating 250 Tele Sales Representatives (TSR’s) in a building of some 15000sqft in Grenada. TME was known to ocean call and was requested to purchase, install and configure a complete turnkey solution for these new global operations.
Traditionally call centers use a distributed computer system configured with PC’s at each of the TSR’s workstations and a central server network providing dialler control and back office functions. However, TME recommended that we use Thin Client workstations supported by Terminal servers interfacing into independent diallers. This configuration not only provided much less and easier maintenance but also far more flexibility and system redundancy which could be managed locally or remotely from the UK office. As the capital cost of purchase was less than a PC based system and long-term ownership costs for the complete system was and is considerably less than any other traditional call centre solution TME’s recommendations and service contract have been excellent.

TME have been providing us with IT support and web hosting services for over 4 years, we have found that they have always been able to help us whatever the problem. Unlike a lot of other companies there is always someone available to talk to on the other end of the phone and they are down to earth and friendly. We currently have 17 web sites residing on their web server and have had no problems, the servers are fast and to our knowledge have only been down once in the time we have been with them, this was during the SQL Slammer hit which effected most of the internet as a whole and was rectified very quickly and efficiently through their back up systems.

We have worked with TME for some years and when we installed our new stock control and management system, we turned to them to help us with our connectivity. With multiple sites to consider, the original system used ISDN to connect everything together and cost us several hundreds of pounds a month to run. TME recommended a VPN (Virtual Private Network) between our sites which gives us a fixed cost of around £30 a site to connect to head office each month. This new way of doing things has not only saved us a fortune but is more reliable and faster than the old system as well!
